Shocking food safety violations at Hyderabad fair spark outrage

Food fairs are cherished for their vibrant atmosphere and culinary delights, but a disturbing incident at the Uttarayan Fair in Bageshwar, Uttarakhand, has marred this reputation. A viral video captured two men, identified as Aamir and Firasat, allegedly spitting on rotis while preparing them at a food stall in Numaish Khet Maidan. Outrage erupted online, prompting swift action by Superintendent Chandrashekhar Ghodke, who arrested the accused.

This isn’t an isolated case of food safety violations making headlines. In Telangana, inspections by the food safety task force uncovered shocking practices at establishments, including expired flavoring agents at Durga Dairy Products in Hyderabad and unhygienic conditions like flaky ceilings and pest entry points. Employees lacked basic hygiene protocols, such as wearing hair caps, and critical certifications were missing.

These incidents highlight a pressing need for stricter regulations and accountability to ensure food safety at public events. Such practices not only endanger health but also erode trust in local vendors.
