HGCL installs metal beam crash barriers for solar roof cycle track on ORR

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of the HMDA has installed metal beam crash barriers for the solar roof cycle track on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Along the 23-km track, the barriers were set up on the Kokapet-Kolluru stretch. The HGCL has proposed installing safety equipment all along the track that has two segments — 8.5 km from Nanakramguda to the Police Academy and 14.5 km from Kollur to Narsingi — following about 20 cases of heavy vehicles crashing into the facility for cyclists since its inauguration in October 2023.

“I thank the authorities for accepting the request of cyclists and setting up crash barriers,” said Ravi Sambari, co-founder of Hyderabad Cycling Revolution.
