Visakhapatnam- The luxurious bungalow built atop the picturesque beach-front Rushikonda Hills in Vizag city by previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led govt, may be converted into MICE Centre to promote tourism, if the words of minister for tourism, culture and cinematography Kandula Durgesh are any indication.
Speaking at the Vizag regional investors meet, Durgesh on Monday said previous govt had completely neglected the tourism sector and demolished the beautiful buildings of the tourism department in Vizag city for their selfishness.
Without mentioning the Rushikonda bungalow, the tourism minister said their govt will examine the feasibility to convert the huge bungalows in Vizag city to MICE centre to promote tourism and attract visitors.
It is noted that the luxurious complex, spread over 9.88 acres and comprising seven blocks, was originally a project that was to be developed as a luxurious tourist resort. But the YSRCP leaders said the bungalow could be used for accommodating residence-cum-camp office of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Jagan wanted to shift his residence and office to the place and operate from Vizag, which he declared as the executive capital of the state, once the YSRCP had returned to power for the second consecutive term in the assembly elections in 2024. However, the 2024 election result shattered Jagan’s plans to shift his residence to Rushikonda.
