The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 956 people on Sunday, the largest number of arrests in a single day by the Trump administration to date. While there are criminal arrests and nonviolent offenders among them, the ICE raids are taking place in several cities in the US.
Along with the deportation of illegal immigrants in the US, ICE is keen on deporting the students who commit visa fraud and who are working unlawfully in the US. Now the official ICE website added a quick link asking to report ‘nonimmigrant students working unlawfully in the US.
With the links to email and phone number, the website wrote, ‘If you are aware of student visa fraud or nonimmigrant students working unlawfully in the U.S., report it here’.
The students who are employed without the proper authorization required for their visa status could likely be facing serious consequences like termination of their student status, potential deportation, and difficulty re-entering the country in the future.
The students are advised to consult with their designated school official regarding any work-related questions to maintain legal status.
