Revanth Seeks Report on Sand Supply for Indiramma Houses

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy ordered a comprehensive study on the supply of sand for the construction of Indiramma houses free of cost. A four-member committee of senior officials has been tasked with submitting a detailed report in a week.

The panel comprises finance special chief secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, mines secretary N. Sridhar, flagship programmes commissioner K. Shashanka and TGMDC managing director B.R.S. Susheel Kumar.

Speaking at a meeting to review mines department affairs, Revanth Reddy observed that the construction activity had been increasing every year but the government was not earning the expected revenues from the sale of sand. On the other hand, the consumers were paying more for sand prices. The Chief Minister stressed that the consumers should buy sand at a lower price alongside the increase of revenue to the government.

The Chief Minister asked officials to take steps to curb the sand mafia. The CM also enquired the officials about the non-collection of fines imposed on mining companies. Further, the committee will conduct a comprehensive study on the major and minor mineral policy and submit a report within two weeks.

Housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, Chief Minister’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister’s principal secretary V. Seshadri, and CM’s secretary K. Manicka Raj were present in the meeting.
