TGMC files cases against 11 quacks for posing as doctors in Nizamabad – Medical Buyer

In a move to curb the menace of unqualified medical practitioners, the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has registered cases against 11 quacks for posing as doctors in the Nizamabad district. The crackdown follows inspections conducted by TGMC officials last month, which revealed widespread malpractices by quacks operating in the region.

Four of the accused have already been remanded to police custody in Dichpally, while cases have been filed against the remaining individuals under sections 319(2), 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and sections 20(ii), 22 of the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act, among other provisions of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, said Dr. G. Srinivas, Vice-Chairman of TGMC.

“To practice modern medicine, the minimum educational qualification required is an MBBS degree. Those found guilty of practicing without this qualification can face up to one year of imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹5 lakh,” he stated. The Hindu
