Tirupati: Nellore police arrested two persons on charges of sexually molesting a minor girl on Wednesday.
According to Nellore DSP P Sindhu Priya, a 14-year-old Class VIII student of govt school in Santhapeta went missing on Jan 25. Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, the Santhapeta police registered a case on Jan 26 and found the girl at Atmakur bus stand near Nellore. They shifted the girl to a govt hospital for examination and doctors confirmed that the minor girl was sexually molested multiple times.
The victim told the police that a middle-aged person forcibly took her to railway station after the school and tried to molest her. However, when people came to her rescue and cornered the accused, the girl escaped from the spot.
But another youngster who spotted the lonely girl persuaded her on the pretext of providing her safety. However, he took the girl to his house and sexually molested her multiple times. He dropped her back at the Atmakur bus stand a day later.
The Santhapeta police, who analysed various CCTV footages, arrested two persons identified as D Niranjan (49) and P Prithvi (28) and the duo confessed to their crime. Police said Prithvi was the one who sexually assaulted the minor girl multiple times.
