Suryapet: Shocking revelations have emerged during the police investigation into the murder of a Dalit youth, suspected to be a case of honour killing.

The accused have reportedly disclosed that the murder was driven by deep-seated animosity towards Vadlakonda Krishna’s inter-caste marriage with Bhargavi, an upper-caste girl, and also that it was make Buchamma, Bhargavi’s grandmother, who was vehemently opposed to the marriage, happy. The police arrested six persons, including Buchamma on Wednesday.

Bhargavi’s two brothers, father and grandmother, along with two friends of the brothers were also among the arrested.

According to the police, Buchamma’s persistent agony and disapproval of the inter-caste wedding reportedly drove her grandson, Naveen, to hatch a plot to kill Krishna. Buchamma’s resentment did not relent until Krishna’s body was shown to her.

Six months ago, Krishna, also known as Mala Banti, married Bhargavi who he was in love with. Naveen, who was initially a good friend of Krishna, saw his friendship extend to his sister, Bhargavi, which eventually turned into a love affair.

Krishna, from Mamillagadda in Suryapet, and Bhargavi, from Pillalamarri village had been in love for three years. When Bhargavi’s parents learned about the relationship, they refused to approve the marriage and arranged for her to marry another person. Unwilling to accept this, Bhargavi eloped with Krishna in August last year and they got married in Nakrekal.

Bhargavi’s brothers turned furious on discovering the marriage and plotted to kill Krishna. They maintained a facade of friendship with Krishna, ultimately leading to his brutal murder. Naveen had enlisted the help of Bairu Mahesh from Thallagadda and another youth to carry out the murder.

Initially, they planned to kill Krishna on January 19, but it did not work out. They then brutally murdered him by taking him away from the village last Sunday. After the murder, the accused showed Krishna’s body to Buchamma in Athmakur (S) Mandal, Old Suryapet.

Naveen then took the body to another friend in Nalgonda. Deciding to dispose of the body far away, they traveled approximately 100 km. They kept the body in the car overnight and finally abandoned it near the Musi canal on the Jangaon road to Pillalamarri.
