Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man was sentenced to seven year imprisonment for blackmailing a girl, which led to her ending her life, in Narayanpet district.
The convict, T Vamshi of Kanmanur village in Marikal mandal, was also fined 20,000 by the Narayanpet senior civil judge and assistant sessions judge on Tuesday (Jan 28).
According to Narayanpet district SP Yogesh Goutam, the girl’s father Thimmappa had stated in his complaint that Vamshi, who initially befriended his second daughter, later became close to her.
The complainant alleged that Vamshi also beat her up on three occasions and threatened her not to tell anyone about their relationship, saying he would post their intimate photos on social media and show them to everyone in the village.
On Sept 13, 2017, the girl, who was a student at a college in Mahabubnagar and lived there, came home for holidays. At night, she took poison. Her family rushed her to Mahabubnagar Govt Hospital where she died during treatment.
