Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy will lay the foundation stone for a new, 2,000-bed world class, and state-of-the-art Osmania General Hospital at Goshamahal on Friday, in a 32 lakh square feet built-up area.
The scientifically designed facility will comprise 29 major and 12 minor operation theatres, with facilities for robotic surgery and a dedicated transplant theatre, giving a massive boost to public healthcare network of Hyderabad and Telangana.
The medical education and training wing will be expanded significantly, with 30 departments, including eight new emerging super-specialty disciplines. The building will house a new academic block with nursing, dental, and physiotherapy colleges.
The entire hospital project will reflect coordination between various departments, ranging from medical and educational to law and order and also ensure police welfare. The new hospital campus is being developed on 26 acres, while the police department will redesign and develop its campus adjoining on 11 acres for their operational needs.
Roads around the police stadium and the new hospital are being re-done to ease movement of traffic and create ‘no signal’ junctions thanks to underpasses. A provision will be made for helipads for emergency shifting of super-critical patients and organ transplants.
The new building design has also made provisions for a power sub-station, fire station, bio and non-bio waste management, and a sewage treatment plant. During the planning, relocation and rebuilding of a govt school that existed on the parcel of hospital land has also been ensured, officials said.
