Vice-Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, unfurled the national flag at the naval base, here, on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day.
He reviewed the ceremonial parade, which included a 50-men Ceremonial Guard and marching contingents comprising over 500 personnel from ships, submarines, air squadrons, shore establishments, the defence security corps and the sea cadet corps.
In his address, Vice-Admiral Pendhakar reflected on the significance of the day, which marks India’s adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950, establishing the nation as a democratic republic. He urged the gathering to uphold the core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity as enshrined in the Constitution and to re-dedicate themselves to building a stronger and more prosperous India.
The ENC chief also emphasised the vision of Viksit Bharat — a developed India — emphasising that the country is on the cusp of a transformative era. This vision, he noted, transcends economic growth and technological advancements; encompassing the collective goal of ensuring dignity, security, and opportunity for every citizen.
He highlighted the Command’s operational achievements, including successful mission-based deployments, bilateral and multilateral exercises such as MALABAR, SIMBEX, and SLINEX, and impactful outreach initiatives like blood donation camps and public engagement events.
