Vijayawada: The high court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to former CID chief N Sanjay in the case registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) over the alleged misappropriation of funds through manipulation of the tender process in awarding works to Sauthrika Technologies during his tenure as director general of fire services.
Another allegation against Sanjay was for the alleged misappropriation of 1.19 crore by dishonestly and fraudulently awarding a contract to one Kritvyap Technologies, which is a non-existing company, for conducting awareness and training programmes for SCs and STs.
Sanjay moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail in both cases. Arguing on his behalf, senior counsel S Sriram said that the petitioner was only a supervising authority and issued orders only after verifying that all due processes were followed.
In the second case, there was no allegation made directly to implicate the petitioner, he said. Sriram further mentioned that he is a known cardiac patient and recently underwent major surgery.
