Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man called the police control room on Wednesday claiming to have planted a bomb at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), but it turned out to be a hoax.
Cops said the caller, Nithin of Rajampet in Kamareddy district, was traced and found to be suffering from mental health issues.
According to police, the Cyberabad control room received calls from Nithin on Wednesday afternoon, claiming that he had planted a bomb at the airport because some people had not given him money on social media. The state and central agencies and the CISF, which is responsible for security at the airport, were informed.
A bomb threat assessment committee meeting was convened and searches were conducted at the airport. The threat was declared to be a hoax. All security protocols remain activ, a security official said. A case has been filed and an investigation is underway. tnn
