Hello fellow members,
Posting it from the Seltos thread as it seems to be a more appropriate thread for the discussion:
Our Seltos D AT has done 3000 kms in just about a month. And that’s the running we had in mind to check the DPF soot level. I understand it’s a little early, but we wanted to evaluate things at the initial stage of ownership and see if we need to change our driving pattern/style.
So we have had a mix of city drives and highway runs (40:60) with mixed traffic conditions (open roads to heavy traffic). We have been driving in the range of 1.5-2.5k RPM whenever possible while trying to maintain a speed of 60kmph and above, again whenever possible. City drives see low speeds at low RPMs while highway drives are spirited. With this pattern so far, we went to a nearby Kia SC and this is what we found:
The senior technician we spoke with mentioned that it’s normal as the maximum limit is 200% (I remember reading somewhere that it is 250?). He suggested to warm up the engine in the morning and idle it for a couple of minutes after a drive, which we always do. He also mentioned that as long as we take it for regular highway drives while maintaining decent speed and RPM, we don’t necessarily have to drive with heavy foot.
Experts: what do you think of DPF soot level as 38% at this stage and the suggestions made by the technician? Your inputs will be highly appreciated.
