A 47-year-old woman was reportedly murdered in her house at Coast Guard Quarters at Malkapuram on Thursday evening. The family members of the woman suspect that her 20-year-old son might have killed her.
Malkapuram police station Inspector Vidyasagar said they received information on Thursday late night that a woman died under suspicious circumstances at the Coast Guard Quarters.
The deceased has been identified as Alka Singh. Her husband Balbir Singh, who works as a Commandant, went to Odisha two days ago for work. The woman has two sons —Anumol Singh and Ayushman Singh.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Alka Singh died between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., and only Ayushman Singh was present in the house during that time.
In a police complaint, the family members alleged that Ayushman Singh has been addicted to online games and mobile phones. Recently, the parents had taken away Ayushman Singh’s mobile phone and laptop. The family members suspect that Ayushman might have killed his mother.
Mr. Vidyasagar said that eight wound marks were found on Alka Singh’s body, which are suspected to have been inflicted with a sharp-edged object.
Ayushman Singh, a third-year B.Tech student, is reportedly in police custody. Further investigation is on.
