Honda Cars India plans to expand its product portfolio with a range of new models by 2030 including SUVs and EVs. Furthermore, the Japanese automaker is developing a new global platform (PF2) for its future small and medium-sized offerings. While the company hasn’t yet revealed the names and details of the new models, the lineup is likely to include an Elevate-based EV, a subcompact SUV, a three-row SUV, the new-generation City and ZR-V. Let’s take a closer look at key details of these upcoming Honda cars.
Honda Elevate EV
The Japanese automaker has confirmed that the Elevate-based electric SUV will arrive in India next year. It will be the brand’s first electric model for the Indian market, featuring a new nameplate and design language. The Honda Elevate EV will be part of the ACE (Asian Compact Electric) project, with nearly 50-70 percent of locally produced units reserved for export. When launched, it will take on the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara.
Honda ZR-V

The global-spec Honda ZR-V hybrid SUV is under consideration for an Indian launch. If approved, the model is likely to hit showrooms as a CBU (completely built unit) in 2026. Its powertrain setup consists of a 184bhp, 2.0L e:HEV hybrid petrol engine with an e-CVT transmission. Both FWD and AWD drivetrain options will be available. This SUV comes with features such as a 10.2-inch digital driver display, wireless smartphone connectivity, a 9-inch infotainment system, Bose sound system, Honda Sensing suite and more.
Honda 7-Seater SUV
Honda’s upcoming 7-seater SUV will be the brand’s first model to be designed on the all-new PF3 architecture. Production is set to begin in October 2027, followed by its market launch. The SUV will be designed and developed by Honda’s Japan and Thailand R&D centers, with inputs from India. While it’s too early to confirm powertrain details, the new Honda SUV is likely to borrow the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Elevate and strong hybrid powertrain from the City sedan.
New Honda City
The new-generation City is one of the much-awaited upcoming new Honda cars in India. Production of the sedan’s sixth-gen will begin in May 2028. It will be the second Honda model to underpin the PF2 platform. The sedan’s next-gen model will witness comprehensive changes inside and out, while retaining the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and strong hybrid powertrains.
Honda Subcompact SUV
Similar to Honda’s new 7-seater SUV and new City, the upcoming subcompact SUV will be built on the PF2 platform. While there is no official word on its India launch timeline, the model is expected to arrive in the first half of 2029. Aiming to achieve competitive pricing, the Japanese automaker might use the Elevate’s platform for the new sub-4 metre SUV. It could be offered with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
