Hyderabad: Telangana is pinning its hopes on the Union Budget 2025-26 to be presented in the Parliament on Saturday, to finally address long-standing funding disparities and propel major infrastructural projects.
The State government has tabled proposals seeking Rs 1.63 lakh crore for crucial projects like the Regional Ring Road, Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, and Musi Riverfront Development, among others.
Infrastructure Investment:
– Allocation of Rs 1.63 lakh crore for major projects.
Regional Ring Road Project:
– Funding of approximately Rs 34,367 crore to boost industrial growth, enhance logistics, and support the pharmaceutical sector.
– Progress on land acquisition pending necessary clearances.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2:
– Joint funding proposal for a 76.4 km expansion project estimated at Rs 24,269 crore.
Musi Riverfront Development:
– Rs 14,100 crore requested for comprehensive redevelopment, including sewerage upgrades, heritage bridge construction, and securing 220 acres of adjacent defence land.
Release of Pending Grants and Funds:
– Release of Rs 1,800 crore in pending grants from previous fiscal years.
– Settlement of pending funds under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act dating back to 2014.
Resolution of Financial Liabilities:
– Intervention from the Centre to address loans totaling Rs 2,547.07 crore incurred post-bifurcation.
– Transfer of Rs 495.20 crore from Andhra Pradesh pertaining to Central Sponsored Schemes allocations based on population.
Fulfillment of Reorganisation Act Commitments:
– Establishment of an integrated coach factory at Kazipet and a steel plant at Bayyaram.
– Enhancement of railway connectivity and development of new airports.
