Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka has stressed the need to raise awareness on energy and water conservation with public participation as it is not only crucial for economic growth but protecting the planet for the future generations too.

Speaking after receiving a copy of the special report on Mission LIFE from Media Advisor (South) for Bureau of Energy Efficiency A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, he said the Telangana government was fully committed to environmental protection, green energy and a sustainable economy. He stated that they were ready to collaborate with organisations working in that direction, in public interest.

He explained that with substantial industrial growth and increasing economic activity, Telangana’s peak power demand (load) was expected to double from 15,623 MW in FY 2024 to 31,809 MW by FY 2035. Similarly, the State’s energy requirement was projected to go up from 85,644 MU in FY 2024 to 1,50,040 MU by FY 2035.

To meet this growing demand, the State government had launched the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025 with a vision to increase the State’s renewable energy capacity by 20,000 MW by 2030 and 40,000 MW by 2035, Mr. Vikramarka who handles the portfolios of Energy and Finance said. He noted that the policy would be in effect for 10 years.

Further, Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation was also focusing on expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, targeting an additional 12,000 EV charging stations by 2035. The Deputy Chief Minister noted that energy efficiency efforts were expected to save over 20% to 25% energy consumption while ensuring high-quality power for all citizens.
