73 railway stations will be developed under Amrit Bharat scheme in Andhra Pradesh, says Railway Minister


As many as 73 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh are being redeveloped as part of the Amrit Bharat station scheme with an investment of ₹2,051 crore, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The 73 stations to be developed as Amrit Bharat stations are: Adoni, Anakapalle, Anantapur, Anaparthi , Araku, Bapatla , Bhimavaram Town , Bobbili Jn, Chipurupalli, Chirala, Chittoor, Cuddapah, Cumbum, Dharmavaram, Dhone, Donakonda, Duvvada, Elamanchili, Eluru, Giddalur, Gooty, Gudivada, Gudur, Gunadala, Guntur, Hindupur, Ichchapuram, Kadiri, Kakinada Town Jn, Kottavalasa Jn, Kuppam, Kurnool city, Macherla, Machilipatnam, Madanapalle Road, Mangalagiri, Mantralayam Road, Markapur Road, Nadikude Jn, Nandyal Jn, Narasapur, Narasaraopet, Naupada Jn, Nellore, Nidadavolu Jn, Ongole, Pakala Jn, Palasa, Parvatipuram, Piduguralla, Piler, Rajahmundry, Rajampet, Rayanapadu, Renigunta, Repalle, Samalkot, Sattenapalle, Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam, Simhachalam, Singaraykonda, Sri Kalahasti, Srikakulam Road, Sullurpeta, Tadepalligudem, Tadipatri, Tenali, Tirupati, Tuni, Vijayawada, Vinukonda, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram Junction.

Addressing a virtual media conference from New Delhi, Mr. Vaishnaw informed that between 2014 and 2025, an average of 142 km of new railway tracks have been laid each year, compared to just 73 km per year during 2009-14. A total of 770 Road over Bridges (R o Bs) and Road under Bridges (R u Bs) have been constructed. He elaborated that 1,560 km of new railway tracks have been added and 1,949 km of track has been electrified, since 2014.

A total of 43 projects are under progress and 5,560 km of new tracks will be laid with an investment of ₹80,097 crore. Eight Vande Bharat trains have been introduced covering 15 districts, having 21 stoppages in Andhra Pradesh. One Amrit Bharat express between Malda town- Bengaluru, covering 9 districts and 14 stoppages in Andhra Pradesh, has been introduced.

Station redevelopment is under progress in Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Tirupati, Rajahmundry at a cost of ₹1,132.43 crore, he said.

Waltair Division

Waltair Divisional Railway Manager Manoj Kumar Sahoo said that major station redevelopment of Visakhapatnam Junction railway station has been taken up, and in 10 other stations in – Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Simhachalam, Parvatipuram, Naupada Jn, Araku, Bobbili, Chipurupalli, Duvvada and Kottavalasa – in Andhra Pradesh, under Waltair Division, redevelopment activities are in progress. The Division is 100% electrified, Mr. Sahoo added.
