Suryapet: Tension prevailed at the Vanijya Bhavan Centre in Suryapet on Tuesday as members of the Backward Classes Joint Action Committee (JAC) burned an effigy of Congress leaders and former Minister K Jana Reddy, accusing him of conspiring to suppress the BCs politically and socially.

The protest was sparked by allegations that the BC population was deliberately under-reported in the BC caste census conducted by the Congress government, compared to the comprehensive family survey conducted by the previous BRS government in 2014.

Backward Classes JAC leaders claimed that the 2024 census showed a reduction of 2.1 million BCs and an increase of 1.6 million OCs, accusing Jana Reddy of being involved in this conspiracy.

They demanded the immediate cancellation of the flawed survey and called for a full-scale re-survey to ensure that BCs receive their rightful political and social representation.

Prominent leaders, including Kumbham Nagaraju, Chand Pasha, Vallala Saidulu Yadav, Meer Akbar, and Avula Anjaiah participated in the protest.

The JAC vowed to continue their fight until justice was served and due share of opportunities was secured for the BC communities.
