Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao welcomed and felicitated members of India’s U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup-winning team at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, on Tuesday.

India successfully defended their U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title with a dominant nine-wicket win over South Africa in the final, becoming the first team to win the championship without losing a game.

Gongadi Trisha, named ‘Player of the Tournament’ at the recently concluded World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, and teammate Drithi Kesari received a warm welcome upon arrival. They were accompanied by head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer and trainer Shalini. The HCA chief honoured the players and support staff with a shawl and a bouquet.

“Warm welcome to our Telangana cricket stars G Trisha, Drithi, head coach Nooshin, and trainer Shalini at Hyderabad Airport! Their stellar performance and victory in the U-19 World Cup have made us all proud!” the HCA chief shared on social media, along with pictures from the felicitation and a video of their arrival.

At the tournament, Trisha set the record for most runs in a single edition, scoring 309 runs in seven matches at an average of 77.25, including a century. She also took seven wickets, with a best of 3/6. In the final, Trisha was named Player of the Match after taking 3/15 and scoring an unbeaten 44 to guide India to victory and retain the U-19 World Cup title.
