Stormwater drain works to resume | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is gearing to resume the stalled storm water drain works and complete pending major drain stretches across three circles under the civic body limits. The civic body will take up the pending works from the 30 crore AMRUT incentive grants it received recently.
Speaking to TOI, VMC chief engineer R Sreenath Reddy said that out of 30 crore, the civic body will execute the storm water drain works at the cost of 21 crore (at 7 crore each in three circles).
“The civic body will fill the major gaps identified on the storm water drains under drainage planning & water conversation measures including urban flood prevention components across three circles in the city,” said CE Reddy.
“Gaps on major storm water drains at Iron Yard, bye-pass road on the north side in division 43, Panja Centre to Nizam Gate, Vinayaka temple in Andaman Brahmaiah Road to Parthsarathi Road in division 39 and construction of RCC drain and culverts to Rajeev Nagar Katta Road, Radha Nagar to Kandrika (HT lines road) and UDA colony, main road from Ranga Bomma to Kanyaka Parameswari temple at Kandrika. Similarly, the storm water drain at Panta Kalava from Ballem Vari Veedhi via Bayina Bapuji Road will be executed,” Sreenath Reddy said.
VMC chief engineer Reddy further explained that around six firms have shown interest.
