Hyderabad: A 16-year-old Intermediate first-year student collapsed and died after a dance programme at a school farewell function in Mahbubnagar district.
According to school staff, Sajavath Roja collapsed while coming down from the stage after her dance performance at the farewell function of Intermediate second-year students at Ekalavya Model Residential School in Serolu mandal of the district on Feb 4. The girl’s elder sister was a second-year intermediate student at the same institution and was also present at the function.
Although the school personnel and 108 ambulance staff administered CPR to the girl, she could not be revived. Doctors at the Mahbubabad General Hospital said Roja was dead when she was brought to the hospital at 9.10pm on Tuesday. The cause of her death is not known.
Roja’s parents, who hail from Thanamcherla in Maripeda mandal, said she had no previous health problems. Her parents and sister were inconsolable and unable to control their grief.
