Vijayawada: The state govt on Wednesday issued a notification constituting a board for the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). The newly constituted board will be headed by APSRTC chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao, along with 16 officials, including RTC zonal heads and secretaries of the transport, roads & buildings, finance, and govt administration departments. The 17-member board also includes five representatives from the govt of India (GoI).
Principal secretary to govt, Kantilal Dande, issued a govt order (GO) MS.No 6 to this effect in the name of the governor of Andhra Pradesh. According to the GO, the governor constituted the board for the purpose of managing the affairs of APSRTC within AP, for a period of two years from Wednesday.
The governor constituted the board by exercising the powers conferred under Section 5 of the Road Transport Corporation Act, 1950 (Central Act 64 of 1950), read with Road Transport Corporation (Amendment) Act, 1982, the GO further read.
