Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy will hold a meeting with the party MLAs on Thursday and provide them with a roadmap for conducting a caste survey, SC categorisation achievements, and the successful implementation of Rythu Bharosa and other welfare schemes to the people, keeping in view the upcoming panchayat elections.
The meeting between CM and the Congress legislators will also include the participation of AICC in-charge Deepa Dasmunsi, Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, and deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka. It will be held at the MCRHRD institute in Jubilee Hills.
After consulting all the party MLAs and considering their opinions, the possibility of the CM deciding to proceed with the panchayat polls is not being ruled out. Although revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that the panchayat poll notification is likely to be issued by February 15, the govt will also consider the dates for the state budget session and SSC and intermediate exams before giving a nod to the state election commission (SEC) to announce the panchayat poll schedule. The SSC annual examinations are set to commence on March 21, and intermediate examinations on March 5.
As per the Panchayat Raj Act, the SEC needs the state govt’s approval for substantial police force and officials from various govt departments to be made available to the commission to conduct the election.
Additionally, the BC panelis expected to submit its report on BC reservations in gram panchayats soon.
