Hyderabad: Fraudsters scheming to scam people out of their hard-earned money seem to be getting more innovative by the day. Now, a case of some unscrupulous elements trying to use the name and branding of the Telangana govt-supported incubator, T-Hub, to con unsuspecting victims has come to light.
T-Hub said on Tuesday that the fraudsters have been running a fake website, https://thubecological.com/login, and a fake mobile application using T-Hub’s name, branding, and identity to engage in deceptive practices and unlawfully collect money from unsuspecting individuals. Multiple videos regarding the scam have also appeared on YouTube.
T-Hub stated it has initiated legal action and is working with law enforcement authorities for the immediate takedown of the fraudulent website and prosecution of the perpetrators. T-Hub Foundation, a Section 8 company under the Companies Act 2013 that runs T-Hub, registered an FIR with the police and also issued a public notice to alert the public about attempts being made to fraudulently impersonate T-Hub through an unauthorised website and mobile app.
“T-Hub does not solicit funds or payments through unauthorised digital platforms, nor does it engage in investment or employment-related monetary transactions,” T-Hub said in its public notice. “The public is advised not to engage with or provide any personal or financial information on such fraudulent platforms. Any communication or transaction with unauthorised websites or entities falsely claiming association with T-Hub is at the individual’s sole risk, and T-Hub disclaims any liability arising therefrom,” it added.
T-Hub officials said though one person from Chhattisgarh filed a police complaint regarding this scam, they do not have any clarity on the number of victims who could have fallen prey to it or the quantum of money the fraudsters extorted.
