Hyderabad: A Nigerian drug peddler was arrested by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and 1300 gm MDMA worth Rs 1.60 crores was seized from him.

Acting on a tip off, the HNEW team along with Langer Houz police caught Oliver alias Johnson, a native of Nigeria and resident of Mumbai, at Langer Houz here in the city.

YVS Sudheendra, DCP Task Force, said Oliver came to Indian in 2009 on a business visa and after his visa and passport expired, he overstayed in the country and got into drug trafficking.

“Oliver used to purchase MDMA from a Nigeria national named Oyibo in Delhi for Rs 300 a gram and sold it in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru to customers for Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 a gram,” said Sudheendra. On a tip off, he was nabbed and three packets containing 1300 gm MDMA was seized from him. He was arrested and remanded.

In a separate case, the Humayunnagar police caught a Guinea national who was wanted in a drug case registered last year and was absconding since then.

Moussa Camara alias Romeo (38), escaped the police in October last year while his associates were arrested in connection with a drug case. Since then the police were on lookout for him.

“Moussa supplied the drug to his customers indirectly. He would drop the drug parcel at some location and share the photograph and location on WhatsApp with his customer asking them to collect it. He obtained the payment through mule accounts,” said DCP Task Force, Sudheendra.

In another case, the police nabbed a Nigerian national for overstaying in the country.

Ikechukwu Sylvester Mbah (40) came to India 2012 and was doing garments export business. His passport and visa had expired but still he continued to stay in the country and visited the city frequently.

He was found moving in the company of drug peddlers. On information, the police caught him and are now planning to deport him to his home country after completing the required formalities.
