The Girijan Cooperative Corporation, Visakhapatnam, has revised the purchase price of coffee to ₹400 per kg for Arabic parchment type and to ₹250, a kg, for Arabica cherry type. The revision has been made keeping in view the increase in the international coffee prices and also the welfare of coffee farmers, according to GCC vice-chairman and managing director Kalpana Kumari.
It may be recalled that the GCC has already announced the purchase prices of coffee collected from tribals for the year 2024-25 at the rate of ₹350 per kg for Arabica Parchment type, ₹230 per kg for Arabica Cherry type and ₹160 per kg for Robusta Cherry coffee type.
G.C.C. has already completed the organic certification process for coffee and pepper crops in 2258.55 hectares belonging to 2,600 coffee farmers in Chinthapalli and G.K.Veedhi mandals. Gondipakalu, Lambasinghi, Kappalu clusters in Chintapalli Mandal and Pedavalasa, GK Veedhi and Erracheruvulu clusters in GK Veedhi Mandal have been certified organic, Ms. Kalpana Kumari said in a statement on Wednesday.
