Jewellery shop theft: Eluru police arrest four from U.P.

The Eluru One Town police have arrested four persons from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the theft that occurred at a jewellery shop here in January. The police recovered 401 grams of gold and 41 kg silver ornaments from their possession.

Disclosing this to the media persons here on Thursday (February 6), Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Pratap Shiva Kishore said the gang was involved in 18 cases in Uttar Pradesh and ten in Eluru over the past four years.

The accused were identified as Kuldeep Sharma, Manoj Kumar, Mahender Singh and Rajesh Kushwaha alias Teetu.

In the intervening night of January 11 and 12, the gang stole the ornaments from Lokeshwari Jewellers at Main Bazaar in Eluru Town after entering the shop by making a hole on the shop’s wall in the backside, the SP said. The accused were wanted in many cases that occurred over the past four years, Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore said.

The team led by Eluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and a team of 15 officers apprehended the accused and recovered the valuables, the SP said and lauded the DSP and other officers.
