HYDERABAD: In a tragic incident, an LKG student died in an accident at Hayathnagar on Thursday evening. The girl, identified as B Ritvika, 4, came under the wheels of a private minivan in which she usually travelled to school. At the time of the incident, after she got down from the vehicle and was walking home, the van driver, identified as K Ganesh, did not notice her walking in the area behind the vehicle and ran over her while reversing, said Hayathnagar police.
According to police, the girl resided at Pedda Amberpet under Hayathnagar police station and was studying in a private school at Abdullapurmet. As usual, she came home in the minivan, got down, and was walking home on the other side of the small road near their home.
Police said the driver drove the vehicle in a negligent manner without noticing the girl behind the vehicle, resulting in her death on the spot. On a complaint from the girl’s parents, a case was registered against the driver, and he was taken into custody for further investigation.
“He was immediately tested for drunk driving also, but he tested negative. Documents related to the vehicle’s fitness and other details are being verified,” said P Nagaraju Goud, station house officer, Hayathnagar. The girl’s body was shifted to Osmania Mortuary for a PME.
