Medigadda: Arrest protection for KTR, 2 others extended

Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Thursday extended its order granting interim protection from arrest to BRS working president KT Rama Rao and two other BRS leaders facing a criminal case for going to Medigadda barrage and recording videos of the site despite prohibitory orders.
The FIR was registered by Mahadevapura police of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district against KTR, Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy and Balka Suman after their visit to the barrage on July 26, 2024. Police said the BRS leaders had not obtained prior permission.
BRS leaders had claimed that Medigadda barrage, which is part of Kaleswaram irrigation project, was full of water and the Congress govt was not releasing it to the fields to prove that its construction was without any purpose.
Justice K Lakshman had earlier stayed the process before the trial court and also directed the police not to arrest the accused.
When the hearing resumed on Thursday, the judge directed the state to file its counter and posted the case to Feb 12. The interim protection order was extended till then.
Relief to tapping accused former cop
In another case, Justice K Lakshman extended a similar ‘don’t arrest’ order for Radhakishan Rao, former DCP of the Task Force, who is facing allegations of tapping phones of political rivals of BRS’ former minister T Harish Rao.
Radhakishan is already out on bail in the main phone tapping case.
Fearing arrest in the tapping complaint filed by Goud, he had approached the court seeking bail in this case also.
