Members of the Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) met the Director of Medical Education Dr. A Narendra Kumar on Thursday, to present a representation on their long-pending issues. During the meeting, the association highlighted that the peripheral medical college allowance remains pending with the Finance department. They urged the authorities to fill Additional DME posts on a regular basis instead of relying on temporary in-charge arrangements. To address role confusion, they called for a clearly defined job chart for each cadre in medical colleges. Additionally, they stressed the need to strengthen the posts of Resident Medical Officer (RMO) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure the smooth functioning of government medical colleges.
The TTGDA members also raised concerns over the existing ban on private practice, requesting a re-consideration of the policy. Citing World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations, they pointed out that lower and middle-income countries are advised against such bans unless competitive salaries are offered to restrict dual practice.
