Women should complain against sexual harassment: Nizamabad district judge


Nizamabad: Principal district sessions judge, district legal services authority chairperson Suneetha Kunchala said that women should come forward to complaint against sexual harassment at work places. The details of the victims will be kept secret and action will be initiated on the accused, who sexually harass, misbehave with women employees in government and private organisations, she said.

Awareness programme on sexual harassment of women at work place (prevention, prohibition and redressal Act, 2013) was conducted here at police parade ground on Thursday. In-charge commissioner of police Ch.Sindhu Sharma, senior civil judge P.Padmavathi, principle junior civil judge Kushbu Upadhya, district women welfare officer Rasool Bi, complaint authority chairperson Neeraja Reddy, additional DCPs Baswa Reddy, Ramchandra Rao and women employees of government department and private organisations others were present.

Speaking at the meeting, Suneetha Kunchala said that women are showing their ability in fields and sexual harassment at work places is adversely affecting their growth. The victims should complain in the local police station, SHE team or Bharosa centre, she suggested. Internal Complaint Committees should be constituted at every work place to prevent the sexual harassment on women, she said. Women can approach district legal services authority or 15100 toll free number for legal aid on sexual harassment cases, she said.
