25-yr-old held for series of murders, robberies on trains | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Government Railway Police (GRP), Secunderabad, on Thursday arrested Rahul alias Bholu, 25, in connection with the murder of a woman in the Divyangjan coach of the Belagavi-Manuguru special train in Nov 2024. Rahul, who is physically challenged, killed the 46-year-old woman and robbed her when she objected to him smoking a beedi in the train and warned of calling police.
According to police, the woman, hailing from Bellary, Karnataka, was on her way to Hyderabad to meet her daughter’s family and boarded the Divyangjan coach, mistaking it for the ladies’ coach. The accused, also a native of Bellary, also boarded the same coach, but on being told by the woman that it was not a general coach, he said that he would get down at the next station, stood at the door, and lit up a beedi. When the woman objected to him smoking the beedi, he snatched her mobile phone. Later, he strangled her, robbed 25,000 cash from her, disembarked from the train at the Yadgir railway station, and fled to Gujarat, changing trains.
There, he allegedly raped and killed a minor at Udwara, after which the Gujarat police arrested him based on CCTV clues. Police then found that he also killed a woman on board the Pune-Kanyakumari train in Oct 2024. He also killed another elderly person on board the Husnur-Mangalore train. A few days later, he killed another elderly person aboard the Katihar-Howrah train by strangling. GRP personnel shifted Rahul to Hyderabad on a transit warrant and remanded him in judicial custody, the officer added.
