CM Naidu Seeks Niti Ayog Assistance for Swarandhra-2017

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has sought central assistance for the Swarnandhra – 2047 vision document. Naidu met NITI Aayog vice chairman Suman Bery at the state secretariat on Friday and explained to him that the document aimed at transforming the state into a scenario of “One Family-One AI Professional – One Entrepreneur.”

The chief minister told Suman Bery that umpteen opportunities are available to the people in the context of the state’s ongoing developmental activities. He sought active cooperation of NITI Aayog in extending technological assistance and developmental backing to the state.
Informing Suman Bery about the target the state has set for 2047, the CM said a $2.4 trillion economic system is sought to be established for AP by 2047, by ensuring an annual 15 per cent growth rate with an average $42,000 per capita income.

Naidu expressed confidence that the state would march forward with full vigour if NITI Aayog extends its support. AP will stand as a model state in Vikasitha Bharat-2047, he contended.

Suman Bery, in his reply, said this is the most- favourable time for both the Centre and the state. “There is a great opportunity for development,” he said, and promised the NITI Aayog’s support to the state.

The CM said the main focus is now on Swarnandhra-2047 — with its goals of economic progress, skill development, setting up of industries and stability. “I aim to develop the state as a global leader in human resource development and good governance,” he said.

Naidu also said the state is currently facing certain challenges. “For one, the financial issues have not been settled in the post-bifurcation phase. AP lost Hyderabad, a growth-engine, and this hurt our revenue generation.”

Also, the previous government has “totally neglected the capital expenditure for five years and did not provide any basic amenities,” Naidu said, adding that AP is totally agriculture-based. However, every effort is being made to strengthen the state by utilising the positives and overcoming the challenges, the CM stated.
The state’s major advantages, he said, are that it has the third largest sea-coast and huge connectivity by road, ports and railways. “It has three industrial corridors. Also, AP is a gateway for East-South-East Asia trade. We are attracting investments in renewable energy and data technology.”
Naidu also sought NITI Aayog’s assistance to transform Visakhapatnam as an economic zone, one of the four growth-hubs in the country, along with taking Amaravati-Tirupati as regional growth hubs. He also proposed that the state government and NITI Ayog work together in strengthening the industrial corridors, skilling hubs, smart cities and the basic facilities.

The CM also felt that if the Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore urban spaces, which have three sea-ports and three airports, are transformed into tri-cities, the entire region will grow at a fast pace.

Pointing out that 700 companies are now operational at the Genome Valley which he had developed, Naidu said that he is now aiming at implementing more such “best policies” in the state.

Naidu said plans are afoot to install solar roof-tops on all bus stations in AP. Efforts are also on to introduce over 11,000 EV buses in the state.
