Pregnant woman carried in doli for 3 km due to lack of road connectivity in Andhra Pradesh's ASR district

VISAKHAPATNAM: A pregnant woman and a sick man had to carried for more than 3 kms in dolis (makeshift stretchers) from Rachakilam tribal hamlet to a primary health centre at Pinakota in Ananthagiri mandal of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district due to lack of road connectivity to their village.
CPM leader B Govinda Rao said G Simhachalam (65) has been suffering from fever and the pregnant woman S Devudamma from Rachakilam tribal hamlet were shifted to the PHC in dolis for medical tests on Friday.
The villagers S Simhachalam, G Jamma Ramu and the CPM leader said though deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan laid foundation stone for the road connectivity to the hill top villages (Gummanti, Rachakilam and Reyipadu in December 2024, the road works are yet to commenced due to delay in release of funds.
They appealed to the officials to release the funds and kick-start the road works.
