Residents slam worsening civic conditions in Hyderabad-Telangana Today

The increase in number of complaints comes at a time when the Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stresses time and again, over making Hyderabad a flood-free city in future by fixing drainage issues

Hyderabad: People ranting over worsening civic conditions in Hyderabad has increased in the last few months. While some complain about garbage piling up on roads in the city, some complain about sewage water and prevalent mosquito issues.

The increase in number of complaints comes at a time when the Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stresses time and again, over making Hyderabad a flood-free city in future by fixing drainage issues among others. Ironically enough, rants of Hyderabadis on piles of garbage on streets, sewage water flowing on roads and increase in the number of mosquitoes, has increased lately.

In one such post on Reddit, a user named ‘u/HappyDataGuy’ posted about the pathetic condition of drains in Hyderabad. “The thing with Hyderabad is, it has gutter water flowing on streets everywhere. Everywhere without exception. Because of this we have s*** load of mosquitoes,” posted the user.

Asking fellow Hyderabadis what they were doing to get rid of them, the user pointed out mosquitoes being health hazards.

Responding to the post, several users posted their opinions about how civic conditions in Hyderabad have worsened in the last few months.

” I shifted to Hyderabad and seriously there are a lot of mosquitoes here compared to other places I’ve lived. Allout doesn’t do shit. Mosquito rackets gives a lot of satisfaction but you can use them only when you’re awake and actively searching and killing mosquitos. The only solution I’ve found is mosquito nets while sleeping,” commented a user u/sergeant582.

Complaining that the issues got worse from Nov/December in 2024, a user going by the name u/timepassredditacc_1, said, “The mosquito problem wasn’t so severe in the past 2 years I’ve stayed in Hyd. Idk how or why but the issue got severe from Nov/December 2024 for me.”
