Hyderabad: The state SC/ST commission has asked the Suryapet district administration to ensure the safety of Bhargavi, whose husband Vadlakonda Krishna alias Mala Bunty was murdered in Jan allegedly by her family.
Krishna (32), a Dalit, had married Bhargavi six months ago, but her family was allegedly against the inter-caste marriage.
Commission chairman Bakki Venkataiah asked the district administration to take measures for the protection of Krishna’s father Bhiksham, sister Swetha and brother-in-law Naresh who told the panel that they were being threatened and asked to withdraw their case against the accused.
The commission, which visited the family on Thursday, assured them that they would pursue the case with the authorities.
Nalgonda district police informed the commission that six persons were already arrested in connection with the murder. The victim was provided an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh, officials informed.
The commission asked officials to sanction a house under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, five acres and a job to Bhargavi.
