Box office numbers wise, Tollywood is one of the best performing industries in Indian cinema. However, there is a blatant vacuum for talented young directors to capture the mid range section.
Rajamouli, Trivikram, and Sukumar are already releasing the race and they’re followed by Koratala Siva. Apart from that, we don’t have too much going on in the non elite list.

Barring Sandeep Reddy Vanga, there’s no other young and fresh director who is capable of making elite grade action films.
One might argue that Anil Ravipudi is in great film. It is indeed a fact that he is one of the most successful directors of this generation but his work is mostly aimed at family and festival audience.

For instance, we have Lokesh Kanagaraj in Tamil who is a blessed action filmmaker. The minute he announces a film with a star hero, their fans are over the moon and expecting winning products.
Such high-skilled directors are missing in the current crop of young filmmakers in Tollywood. There’s a lot of vacuum in this space.

There’s Venky Atluri who is a talented man himself. But he mostly does mellowed down films. The mass commercial touch blended with freshness, something that someone like Kanagaraj offers is missing in Tollywood.
Outside Rajamouli, Sukumar, Sandeep Vanga and to an extent Trivikram, there’s not too much happening in the next tier of directors. On the other hand, we have Lokesh Kanagaraj and Nelson who are doing it to a great degree in Tamil cinema.
We badly need a young filmmaker who blends commercial action space with fresh narratives to match the sensibilities of modern audiences.
