Warangal: Warangal deputy transport commissioner Puppala Srinivas now faces fresh charges. Arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known income, Srinivas has been additionally charged under the Excise Act 1960, Section 34(a), for the illegal possession of foreign liquor.
During raids, ACB officials seized 23 bottles of foreign liquor valued at Rs 5.29 lakh from his residence. The probe uncovered a wide array of alleged ill-gotten assets, including three houses worth Rs 2.79 crore, 16 open plots valued at Rs 13.57 lakh, 15.2 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 14.04 lakh, a bank balance of Rs 5.85 lakh, household articles worth Rs 22.85 lakh, three four-wheelers and one motorbike valued at Rs 43.8 lakh, 1,542.8 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 19.55 lakh, and 400 grams of silver ornaments valued at Rs 28,000.
While official estimates total the seized assets at approximately Rs 4.04 crore, sources suggest their market value could exceed Rs 15 crore. Srinivas was presented before the Special Court for SPE & ACB Cases-Cum-III additional district & sessions judge of Warangal as the investigation continues.
