Hyderabad: Telangana ACB has arrested Warangal Deputy Transport Commissioner Puppala Srinivas in connection with Rs.4.04 crore disproportionate assets (DA) case registered against him.
The ACB unearthed disproportionate assets worth Rs.4 crore allegedly amassed by Srinivas during raids carried out on Friday. The ACB found three houses, 16 open plots, 15 acre agricultural land on his name and his family members apart from gold ornaments and foreign liquor bottles.
The raids follow after the ACB registered disproportionate assets to the known sources of income against Srinivas who acquired assets by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service. As this was an offence punishable under Section 13 (1) (b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, preliminary searches were conducted at his house and other five various places belonging to him and his relatives.
During the searches, property documents related to houses, open plots and agricultural lands were found. Three house documents worth 2.79 crore, 16 open plot documents worth Rs.13.57 lakh and documents related to 15 acres and 20 guntas of agricultural land worth Rs.14.04 lakh were found in his name and in the names of his family members.
The ACB officials said that the market value was expected to be much higher than the official value.
Furthermore, the bank balance amount of Rs.5.85 lakh, household articles worth Rs.22.85 lakh, three four wheelers and a bike worth Rs.43.80 lakh, gold ornaments weighing about 1542.8 grams worth Rs.19.55 lakh, silver ornaments weighing about 400 grams worth Rs.28,000 and 23 foreign liquor bottles worth Rs.5.29 lakh were found.
The total assets were estimated to be about Rs.4.04 crore. Further verification of additional assets is underway, according to officials. Intimation was given to the Shankarpally excise officials regarding 23 foreign liquor bottles found with Srinivas.
A separate case under provisions of Prohibition and Excise Act was also registered under COR (Crime Occurrence Report) against him. The case is under investigation.
