Mary Matha Tirunallu To Start Today; Traffic Restrictions Imposed


Vijayawada: The annual Gunadala Mary Matha Tirunallu is set to begin on Sunday, prompting the NTR district police to implement traffic diversions to ensure smooth movement and minimise public inconvenience in Vijayawada. These measures will be in effect from the night of February 8 to February 12. During this period, the stretch between Padavalarevu Centre and ESI Junction will be closed to all vehicles.

NTR District Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu issued the traffic restrictions on Saturday, stating that no vehicles would be permitted to access Padavalarevu Centre from Gunadala Gangireddula Dibba via Bethlehem Nagar on either side. Autos will be allowed to travel up to Machavaram Down on Eluru Road and from Ramavarappadu Ring to ESI Junction.

Designated parking areas for various vehicle types have been arranged at vacant locations opposite Zion Bible College, ESI Hospital Ground, St Joseph High School Ground, and BRTS Road near Madhuranagar Bridge.

Regarding RTC bus services, Police Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu stated that APSRTC city bus services would be rerouted between Pundit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) and Ramavarappadu Ring. All city bus services will reach Ramavarappadu Ring via Police Control Room (PCR) Junction, Hotel Swarna Palace, Apsara Junction, Vijaya Talkies, Deepthi Junction, Chuttugunta Centre, Visalandhra Road, Metro Junction, Jammichettu, Siddhartha Junction, Amma Kalyana Mandapam, Christurajapuram, Sai Hotel Junction, Dental Hospital, and Mahanadu Junction.

Similarly, city bus services originating from Gannavaram and Auto Nagar will be diverted at ESI Junction, passing through Gunadala Post Office, Maddiravamma Gudi, Sangam Dairy Junction, Machavaram Police Station, Amma Kalyana Mandapam, Siddhartha Junction, Jammichettu, Madhu Chowk, Sikhamani Centre, Red Circle, Gopala Reddy Road, RIO Junction, Civil Courts, Mahanthi Market, Bandar Locks, PCR Junction, and finally reaching PNBS.

APSRTC has arranged special buses to operate from PNBS to a temporary bus stop at Madhuranagar Kotha Vanthena Junction. The special festival city bus services will start from PNBS, passing through PCR Junction, Prakasam Statue, Railway Station East Booking, Eluru Locks, GS Raju Road, Gymkhana Grounds, Seethannapet Gate, and entering BRTS Road via Sarada College Junction, Food Junction, and Madhuranagar Junction before reaching the temporary bus station at Madhuranagar Kotha Vanthena Centre. The return route to PNBS will follow the same path.

Furthermore, special services from BRTS Road and Machavaram Down to Ramavarappadu Ring will be rerouted via Chuttugunta Centre, Visalandhra Road, Metro Junction, Nice Bar, Jammichettu, Siddhartha Junction, Amma Kalyana Mandapam, Ramesh Hospital Junction, and Mahanadu Junction. Similarly, all bus services from Ramavarappadu Ring to Machavaram Down will follow this route.
