Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu, has issued a stern warning against unauthorized constructions in the city, directing planning secretaries to enforce strict supervision. He emphasized that negligent officials would face stringent action.
During his routine inspection on Saturday (February 08), the Commissioner visited areas such as Vikas Nagar, SVN Colony, and Koritapadu to assess development and sanitation works. He instructed the officials to ensure proper implementation of urban regulations.
Noting that Srinivasulu complaints regarding illegal constructions were increasing he urged planning secretaries and Town Planning and Building Overseers (TPBOs) to maintain rigorous on-ground monitoring. He mandated that all secretaries keep a handbook or diary to document their observations.
The Commissioner stressed that all constructions within ward secretariat limits must comply with regulations, and residents must be educated about the process of obtaining building plan approvals. He also directed administrative secretaries to ensure property tax is levied on all constructed buildings, including multi-storey apartments, without waiting for occupancy certificates (OC) for individual flats.
Additionally, he warned that any under-assessments or unassessed constructions found during field inspections would result in disciplinary action against the responsible officials.
