Artificial Intelligence (AI) will impact repetitive jobs in the short term and generate huge employment opportunities from 2026-27, IT industry leader and Cyient founder chairman BVR Mohan Reddy told the Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) Leadership Conclave 2025 in Hyderabad on Saturday (February 8, 2025).
With the impact of AI on leadership, workplaces and business strategies becoming increasingly evident as the technology evolves, individuals and organisations need to adapt to technological advancements to stay competitive, the HMA said in a release on the programme.
During a fireside chat with PwC Partner Rajesh Duddu, Mr.Reddy, who is a former Chairman of IT industry body Nasscom, traced AI’s evolution. He said the first PhD in AI was awarded to an Indian, Raj Reddy, at Stanford University in the 1960s.
Mr. Mohan Reddy underscored the need for India to create a competitive, knowledgeable skill force on AI; enhance focus on research and development; focus on build databases; and address the privacy concerns around the technology.
HMA president Chandrasekhar said the association has been a pillar of leadership and management excellence for 50 years. The conclave marked HMA’s golden jubilee celebration.
In his keynote address, Indian School of Business Dean Madan Pillutla spoke on the importance of diversity in leadership and workforce hiring. “Organisations must embrace diversity by recruiting individuals from varied backgrounds, including women and underrepresented communities. Learning ability and adaptability are more important than institutional pedigree,” he said.
Honeywell Automation Chairman Ganesh Natarajan said he saw a huge opportunity for India in AI and managers can use the technology tools to redefine management and work environments. Joint MD of Apollo Hospital’s Group Sangita Reddy said the role of AI and emerging technologies were pronounced in healthcare.
