March will be an electrifying month for the Indian automobile industry as four new EVs from major OEMs are ready to hit roads. India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will introduce its first ever electric car – e Vitara, while BYD will expand its product portfolio with the Sealion 7. MG will inaugurate its ‘MG Select’ premium dealership network with the launch of the M9 electric MPV and Cyberster electric sportscar. Let’s delve into key details of these upcoming EVs:

Maruti and Vitara

Based on the skateboard e-Heartect platform, the Maruti and Vitara will be made available with two powertrain options – 49kWh with a 143bhp motor and 61kWh with a 173bhp electric motor. The torque figure of both setups stands at 192.5Nm. The carmaker has confirmed that the electric Vitara with the larger battery pack will promises a range of over 500km (MIDC). Interestingly, it will be the first Maruti Suzuki to offer the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. In fact, the interior of the e Vitara is more modern than the existing Maruti cars.
World Sealion 7

Bookings of the World Sealion 7 are already underway nationwide. This electric SUV underpins BYD’s 3.0 Evo-born electric platform and comes with two battery packs – 82.5kWh (Premium RWD) and 91.3kWh (Performance AWD) – offering a maximum range of up to 502km. The smaller battery pack delivers a maximum power of 313bhp and 380Nm of torque, while the bigger battery version returns a claimed power of 530bhp and 690Nm of torque. Some of its key features include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, 50W wireless phone charger, a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade, connected car tech, ADAS, ventilated front seats and more.
MG M9

Pre-bookings for the MG M9 luxury electric MPV were commenced with its official debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. It’s essentially the re-badged Maxus Mifa 9, which is already on sale in select global markets. The M9 features a 90kWh lithium-ion battery and a front axle mounted electric motor with FWD (front-wheel drive) setup. The e-motor pushes out a maximum power of 245bhp and 350Nm of torque. This EV offers a claimed WLTP range of 430km. It measures 5.2 metres in length, and comes with 7 and 8-seats configurations.
MG Cyberster

MG Cyberster will be the most affordable electric sportscar in the country. It will be brought here as a fully imported unit. The carmaker has confirmed that its bookings will being in March and deliveries will commence a month later. The Cyberster will come with a 77kWh battery pack with one motor on each axle, delivering a massive power of 510bhp and 725Nm of toque. It does 0 to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds. MG claims that the Cyberster offers a range of 580km on a single charge (CLTC cycle). It could also be offered with a smaller 64kWh battery pack at a later stage.
