‘Laila’ boycott controversy: Vishwaksen apologizes

Vishwaksen’s entertainer “Laila” will be released on Friday (February 14, 2025). However, the film sparked controversy when actor Balireddy Prudhviraj (better known as “30 Years of Industry” Prudhvi) made certain statements during the film’s pre-release ceremony on Sunday.

As a result, YSRC party members urged everyone to boycott the film over his remarks. With the #BoycottLaila hashtag trending, producer Sahu Garapati and actor Vishwaksen met with the press today to clarify the situation. Producer Sahu stated that his crew was surprised to see the hashtag #BoycottLaila trending on social media, that he was unaware of what actor Prudhviraj said, and that any remarks made had nothing to do with the film’s content.
Vishwaksen apologized for the incident at their function.

“When someone says anything at an event, it does not represent the overall opinion of the film’s team. Prudhvi apparently made remarks while we were waiting for our chief guest, megastar Chiranjeevi. We weren’t aware of what he stated. Please end the controversy here,” he said.

“I apologize on behalf of the entire team. Please watch the film regardless of politics since it is a pure commercial entertainer,” Vishwaksen added.

Prudhviraj made statements regarding the YSRC party’s seats during his address, implying that there is a scene over the seats the party received in previous elections.
