Hyderabad: An 82-year-old man, Kolluru Somesh, died from electrocution and burns in an accident after his electric rice cooker exploded at his home in Vikarabad on Saturday night.
According to the police, Somesh, who lived alone in Gandhi Nagar, Vikarabad, was cooking food around 8 pm when the electric rice cooker exploded. The explosion led to severe burns, leading to his death on the spot.
Police suspect that an electric short circuit may have caused the incident. However, based on a complaint from his son-in-law, Kotha Ashok Kumar, a case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing. Somesh is survived by three daughters, and his wife passed away two years ago.
