Release brings the total disbursement under the scheme to 2,218 crore, covering 36 lakh acres
Hyderabad: The Congress govt on Monday disbursed the third tranche of Rythu Bharosa funds amounting to 1,091 crore and benefiting 13.23 lakh farmers who own up to 2 acres of land. This brings the total disbursement under the scheme to 2,218 crore, covering 36 lakh acres and 34 lakh farmers.
The initiative was launched on Jan 27, with farmers in 577 villages receiving funds directly into their bank accounts. In the second phase, which took place on Feb 5, 557 crore was allocated to 17 lakh farmers, covering 9.29 lakh acres.
State agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao alleged that the previous BRS govt has released funds for non-agricultural land, including hills, rocks, and real estate ventures. He added that he would soon make the details public. According to him, the Congress govt was using satellite imagery to ensure that only the real beneficiaries — those with arable land — got Rythu Bharosa funds.
The minister added that the disbursement would continue despite the upcoming local body elections and imposition of the model code, as it has been operational for the past month. He claimed that the Congress government had achieved what the BRS failed to accomplish for farmers over the last decade. He also accused BRS working chief KT Rama Rao of hindering farmers from accessing their rightful benefits, suggesting that his actions undermined the respect that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao once commanded in the agricultural community.
