Maharashtra police files FIR against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina over ‘India’s Got Latent’ row | Mumbai News

The Maharashtra cyber police have booked podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina and other artists for allegedly making obscene content and broadcasting it on Raina’s India’s Got Latent show after it sparked a huge controversy. This is the second FIR against the duo, with the Assam police having registered one on Monday.

A senior officer confirmed the development to The Indian Expressadding that the police have invoked section 67 (transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, among other sections.

The cyber police have booked 30 people over obscene and foul language allegedly used during the show. “On Monday evening, we registered a case against 30 individuals, including artists, hosts, judges, and participants of all six episodes of India’s Got Latent, and we will be issuing summons to all, asking them to join the police probe,” said a senior police officer from Maharashtra state Cyber police.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Biswa sarma announced on social media that Allahbadia, Raina and others were booked in his state on Monday.

Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar said, “We received a complaint and have instructed the police department to stop the show’s telecast and immediately take necessary action as per Indian laws, and submit a report to the commission.”

The Mumbai police have summoned Allahbadia, Raina and other artists who were present on the show. In response to the summons, lawyers for Ashish Chanchalani and another artist visited the Khar police station on Tuesday evening.
