New-Gen Tata Nexon Launch In 2027

India’s top-selling subcompact SUV – Tata Nexon is all set for a generational shift in India. The new model is expected to arrive in 2027. The project is internally named as ‘Garud’, and expected to witness significant upgrades acrpss all aspects including design, interior, features and platform. While specific details of the new-gen Tata Nexon are not available at this point of time, there are few things we expect from the all-new model.

All-New Platform:

One of the biggest updates will be made to its underpinnings. The new-gen Tata Nexon will be designed on the heavily modified version of its existing X1 architecture. Tata’s X1 platform was originally designed to accommodate multiple body styles including hatchbacks, sedans and compact SUVs. It was also previously used in the Tata Bolt and Zest back in 2014. Over time, this architecture was updated to support modern features such as speed sensitive power steering, and electronic power assisted steering.

Significantly Improved Design:

Besides the significant structural upgrades, the all-new Nexon will receive major design changes. It would be too early to comment, though we expect it to share a few design bits with the Curvv. The front fascia might take a radical approach, distinguishing it from the current generation.

More Features:

Tata is expected to pack the new Nexon with several advanced features, enhancing its value for proposition against rivals. Its arch rival, Hyundai Venue already comes with the Level 1 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Aiming to give it a competitive edge, the new Tata Nexon might be offered with the ADAS suite.

Under the hood:

The new-gen Tata Nexon is likely to retain the existing 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which pushes out power worth 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. However, the diesel engine could be dropped from the new model lineup due to the upcoming BS7 emission standards, which are expected to be enforced from 1st July 2027. Transmission choices will remain the same – 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed DCT automatic.
